WORLD OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY DAY

Hello,

It has been a while since I have posted to the blog. I have been mainly consulting and presenting workshops when in Cairo. There is not as much growth in the OT profession in Egypt as I had hoped for years ago. However, I still enjoy presenting workshops about OT and other related topics!

In honor of World Occupational Therapy Day last month, I am presenting two complimentary workshops:

1). What is Pediatric Occupational Therapy?
2). Tips for Choosing Toys for Infants, Toddlers and Preschoolers

at The Learning Resource Center on Saturday, 9th of November 2013 from 12.00 pm to 3.00 pm. The LRC  is located at 9 Road 278, Maadi (near the Maadi Public Library).

Session 1: What is Pediatric Occupational Therapy? (45 minutes, from 12.00 pm to 12.45 pm)

This introductory session will explain what pediatric occupational therapy is. Participants will learn about an OT's educational background, who would benefit from OT and what is included in an OT assessment and treatment.

Session 2: Tips for Choosing Toys for Infants, Toddlers and Preschoolers (90 minutes, from 1.30 pm to 3.00 pm)

This introductory workshop will provide tips on how to select appropriate toys for children aged 0-5 years old. Participants will also learn general developmental milestones for these ages. If participants have specific toys that they would like to learn more ways to use with a child, they are welcome to bring them to the workshop.

Lecturer’s Bio: Ms. Laura Efinger M.A. OTR/L is an American Licensed Occupational Therapist with 17 years of experience working in the US & Egypt. Much thanks,

New Website

Hello there,

For the past 2 years I have been developing my Child Development Club website and this past December I finally re-launched it with a new look, including new bloggers, events, resources, newsletter and more.

We have some great people contributing to the blog, including occupational therapists, music therapists, nutritionists, physical therapists, students, educators, parents and more.

There are pages specific to countries, which list their local resources.

There is an events page for international educational events.

So, if you have any country specific resources that you feel others would benefit from, please send me the links. If you know of any upcoming international conferences that I do not have listed, please send me the links and I will add them. If you would like to guest blog or become a contributing blogger and would like more information, please contact me at laura@childdevelopmentclub.org.

You can sign up for the newsletter on the website: www.childdevelopmentclub.org

I hope you find the resources beneficial.

Thanks,
Laura
